Friday, I'm In Love (?)

Finally, the end of this work week has arrived. Fridays are always nice because the atmosphere is different, much more relaxed. People bring in doughnuts, everyone goes out for 2-hour lunches, and we all get our paychecks. Well, since I use direct deposit, some of the excitement of getting the paycheck and cashing it at the bank is diminished, because the secretary just hands me the stub. But still, it's always a good feeling at the end of each work week to see the fruits of your labor, summed up into a tidy number of dollars and cents (minus taxes). Especially this week, I think I definitely earned my paycheck.

Yesterday, I watched some of this show called "Burned" on MTV. Basically, it's another one of those hidden camera things, and this one focuses on catching wannabe "players" in their act. Some of it is stupid because they have these girls kind of lead them on and stuff, which is a little unfair. But I was still pretty surprised at how much the guys were willing to lie. One guy said he was 28 (he was 21) and was talking like he knew Justin Timberlake and Jamie Pressley and stuff. The other guy was like "yeah, I just bought a house and stuff", when I think he was still in high school (at least that's what he looked like).

I always knew that guys lied to pick up girls, after all, some of my own friends in college did stuff like that. One guy (who will be unnamed here but some of you will know who I'm talking about) would tell girls that he was a grad student and drove a Benz. And I think it actually worked a lot for him because he was always hooking up. But I just figured that he was the exception, not the rule.

Well, it really makes you wonder about how much you can trust someone, meeting them for the first time. I think I am a pretty good judge of character and I can usually tell when people are full of crap, but I still tend to trust people a lot and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt most of the time. It doesn't really matter so much for me, though, because I'm a guy. When I see how these so-called players go about their business, it makes me a little worried for my sister and some of my close friends. It is also another reason that you shouldn't try to meet random people at bars (or other places), because you never know what kind of weirdos are out there. Now I know you ladies can take care of yourselves, but I still feel sorry for you all having to deal with that kind of stuff. That's probably why so many of the girls who are hot end up being biatches.

On another topic, FANTASY FOOTBALL is fast on its way. Baseball is the best sport, but the most memorable moments come from Fantasy Football, especially in the legendary McNown league, now in its 4th season. For me, it's been many more heartbreaks than celebrations in the past, but that will all change this year. Well, I can always hope. At a minimum, I would like to beat Dave Chan for once, especially as he has already named his team the "Dudo Dominators".

In baseball, since the last time I wrote about my team, they took a sharp dive in the standings (from 1st to 2nd to 3rd to 2nd). It was partly because P's team stepped up, and partly cause my boys all stopped producing. With about 60 games left in the season, I'm looking for A-Rod to make up for his lackluster first half, and Rich Harden to step in and carry some of the starting pitching load from my tired veterans. I really don't wanna finish in 2nd place yet again. >:-O
